New Year, New Smile!

New year, new smile in 2022

Hello there, 2022. It’s a new year, which means new opportunities to make positive changes. Many of us have already begun to write down objectives and goals for the coming year. If you want to take better care of your smile this year, here are five actions you can include into your new lifestyle:

Commit to flossing.

Brushing your teeth after every meal is a terrific place to start when it comes to having a healthy smile, but it doesn’t stop there. The truth is that brushing alone will not remove every last food particle from between your teeth. If you want your teeth to be completely clean and brilliant, you must commit to flossing on a regular basis. Keep floss visible on your bathroom counter, and write a reminder to floss on your bathroom mirror, so you don’t forget. You can also keep additional floss in your purse or work bag in case you forget to floss at work or school.

Consume nutritious foods.

Brushing and flossing are beneficial to your dental health, but what do you feed your body? Dairy products are abundant in calcium and are excellent for your teeth. Fibrous foods, such as crisp carrots and apples, stimulate saliva production and help to remove plaque and other food waste. After the holidays, eating a nutritious diet is a terrific way to start the new year feeling healthy and powerful.

Reduce your sugar intake.

If you want to have a healthy mouth this year, you should minimize your sugar intake. Not only would it be beneficial to your overall health, but it would also greatly reduce your chances of developing dental decay and cavities. The simplest strategy to minimize your sugar intake is to restrict the number of sugary foods you buy at the supermarket. Substitute fruit and nuts for sugary snacks, and soda for sparkling water or other sugar-free drinks like La Croix.

Consider teeth whitening.

We strongly recommend teeth whitening procedures if your teeth could use a little radiance in the new year! Teeth whitening is an excellent technique to polish and boost the confidence of an already attractive smile. Ask us about teeth whitening solutions at your next consultation; we’d be pleased to assist.

Make a dentist appointment.

Finally, if you can’t recall the last time you went to the dentist, it’s time to make an appointment. If you are feeling sensitivity or pain, it is critical that you schedule an appointment as soon as possible to address the issue before it worsens. We’d delighted to assist you and your family in getting a jump start on your oral health objectives for this year. We are a high-quality, patient-centered dentistry practice in the Spring/Champions area.  We look forward to seeing you soon!
